The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MCSA) Postdoctoral Fellowships aim to boost the creative and innovative potential of researchers with a PhD who seek to gain new expertise through advanced training and international, interdisciplinary, and inter-sectoral mobility. These fellowships are open to outstanding researchers of any nationality.

This programme also supports researchers in undertaking research and innovation projects in the non-academic sector. It is particularly welcoming to those looking to reintegrate into Europe, researchers displaced due to conflict, and individuals with strong potential who wish to restart their research careers.

The fellowships provide funding for excellent researchers moving internationally—either within EU Member States, between Horizon Europe Associated Countries, or to non-associated Third Countries. Applications must be submitted jointly by the researcher and a host organisation in either the academic or non-academic sector.

Postdoctoral Fellowships can take place in Europe (within an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country) or in a non-associated Third Country.

  • European Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to researchers from any nationality who wish to conduct research and innovation (R&I) projects in Europe, either by relocating from another country or moving within Europe. The standard fellowship duration ranges from 12 to 24 months.
  • Global Postdoctoral Fellowships are designed for European nationals or long-term residents who want to work on R&I projects with organisations outside the EU and Horizon Europe Associated Countries. These fellowships require an outgoing phase of at least 12 and up to 24 months in a non-associated Third Country, followed by a mandatory 12-month return phase to a host organisation in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country.

Specific eligibility requirements apply to MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships in research areas covered by the Euratom Research and Training Programme 2021-2025.
