The EDCTP aims to accelerate the development of new or improved drugs, vaccines, microbicides and diagnostics against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, with focus on phase II and III clinical trials in sub-Saharan Africa.
The European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) will hold a series of thematic stakeholder meetings to shape its strategy and funding approach as part of the preparatory process for EDCTP2 (2014-2024). Participants will include researchers from academia, representatives of product development partnerships and pharmaceutical industry, policy makers, funding agencies and other like-minded organisations as well as representatives of EDCTP and its constituencies.

The EDCTP offers grants that focus on clinical trials (which are the principal function of EDCTP) as the core and use networking and capacity development to create a sustainable environment for conducting high-quality medical research in sub-Saharan Africa.
